In order to captain a ship, one must possess a Captain's Seal. In legal terms, these are a series of papers that tie a seaman to a specific ship. In the looser terms of Piracy, the Captain's Seal is an object, ranging from a stamp which one can use on his personal documents, to a specific piece of jewellery he might wear (such as a signet ring, talisman or charm), even a tattoo that is marked into his flesh (depending on the School that trained him). Only an established Captain of no less than 6 years can bestow another with a Captain's Seal, and then only if there is a boat to which the new Captain will be tied. Weaponry Academy is currently the only one of the three piracy schools that possesses ships to bestow on its students.
